In 2019, I experienced a tough breakup just a week before Valentine's day. A friend of mine, who had always encouraged me to try stand-up, was hosting a house party themed as an anti-Valentine's Day celebration.
The day before the event, I spotted a flyer featuring my name: “Stand-up Comedian Fiona Cauley.” I can't describe the sheer panic that hit me; I hadn't even written a single joke down at that point!
