Police in Mombasa arrest 3 suspects in connection with the alleged sodomization of a 25-year-old blogger Bruce John alias “Chawa 001” for allegedly ‘insulting' a top county official.
Over 20 suspects are said to have planned and executed the assault. The crime reportedly took place in the Bamburi area of Mombasa.
County criminal investigation officer James Leli confirmed that one of the arrested suspects is a male who is accused of carrying out the sexual assault.
The other two suspects (both female) are believed to have orchestrated the crime.
They are currently in police custody and are expected to be arraigned in court on Monday.
Investigations are ongoing as police search for additional suspects.
Local human rights organizations have condemned the attack urging law enforcement to expedite the investigation to ensure justice is served.
